Pediatric cancer conference at the National Assembly - 15 févr. 2023

This is an unprecedented event, initiated by the Grandir Sans Cancer & Eva pour la vie federation since 2017. This time of discussion bringing together families, associations, professionals, doctors, researchers and many parliamentarians makes it possible to address the issues of research and social aspects for families of children suffering from cancer, serious illnesses and disabilities.

This conference, based on strong cross-functional work, is a source of regular progress, such as the establishment of a dedicated fund of €5 million/year for research into childhood cancers in 2018, the law on the bereavement of a child in 2020, the creation of an additional fund of €20 million and the doubling of the duration of the AJPP and its revaluation at the minimum wage.

In 2023, it was again organized on International Childhood Cancer Day in a symbolic location, the Quaestorship of the National Assembly, at the invitation of MPs Paul Christophe and Béatrice Descamps, after two years by videoconference due to COVID19.

With a record number of elected officials, two bills debated in the spring were raised for social aspects, to better protect the families of children suffering from cancer, a serious illness or an accident. The issue of care and the need to open new levers to promote the development of pediatric drugs, by start-ups but also, a public pediatric drug company, was discussed at length. Great progress is therefore expected in 2023. A look back at the program ...
