The first part is a realistic documentary filmed in the pediatric oncology department of Brest . Above all, it gives voice to the children and the parents. Children who fight courageously, who undergo heavy treatments and who are afraid. Parents who are often destitute, including on a social level.
The second part is a panel on which the team of journalist Jean-Pierre Gratien invited Stéphane Vedrenne to speak, alongside the deputy for the North Béatrice Descamps (who is behind social advances and a fund dedicated to research into childhood cancers voted on at the end of 2021) and the biologist Marie Castets to discuss the situation of research, the disengagement of drug manufacturers and the social aspects: in addition to the difficulty of the disease, there is too often a drop in income while current expenses, such as rent, credit, energy or food, do not decrease. Not to mention the additional expenses linked to illness, disability, or the distance from places of care for some families.
This is the first time that a national channel, and even more so a parliamentary channel, has devoted a long programme to paediatric cancers , with very strong motivation and humanity.
